Pure Luck Cheesemaking Workshops are held in spring and fall; please check our website and Facebook page for updates.

Do I need to know anything about cheesemaking to attend a workshop?
No. Our classes are appropriate for all skill levels, including first-timers. The detail and level of instruction are tailored to each individual participant; our goal is to meet your needs and answer any questions, which is why we limit our classes to 10 students. Past workshop participants have included culinary professionals, brewers, farmers, homemakers, homesteaders, couples and goat lovers. If you enjoy cheese, join us!

Classes we offer:

Cow’s Milk Mozzarella, Ricotta & Cultured Butter
Learn how to make two of the most popular- and versatile- styles of fresh cheese, as well as cultured butter (meaning it has live cultures added to it, which make for a more complex flavor profile). Once you’ve learned the technique, you’ll be inspired to experiment at home by making compound (flavored) butters and using the ricotta as a base for sweet and savory dishes and in baked goods.
In addition to hands-on production, class will include a farm tour (come dressed to snuggle newborn kids), a visit to the milking parlor at milking time, and snacks, lunch and beverages. You’ll get to take home recipes and any cheeses you make in class.

Goat’s Milk Feta, Soft-Ripened Cheese & Cow’s Milk Cultured Butter
We’ll introduce you to the fundamentals of cheesemaking with regard to fresh, brined cheese (Feta), soft-ripened cheese (we’ll be making a “bloomy” Camembert-style) and cultured butter (meaning it has live cultures added to it, which make for a more complex flavor profile).
In addition to hands-on production, class will include a farm tour, visit to the milking parlor at milking time, and snacks, lunch and beverages. You’ll get to take home recipes and any cheeses you make in class.
